Madison G. - Catechumen (Adapted for Children)The Order of Christian Initiation for Adults (OCIA) is for those looking to enter the Catholic Church (whether baptized in another denomination or not). It is also for those baptized Catholics who started their faith journey, but for whatever reasons, have not completed their sacramental initiation of Confirmation and Eucharist.
Prior to November 2024, OCIA was known as Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA).
OCIA catechumens and candidates attend Mass together with the OCIA team on Sundays at 9:30 AM. Immediately after Mass, the group meets in the Parish Center to break open the Word to discover how the Gospel applies to our daily lives, and to explore our Catholic faith and traditions.
The catechists in the OCIA process at St. Basil Catholic Parish give freely of their time, talent, and treasure. They share their faith experiences and beliefs, and lead others by being true examples of faith lived day to day. They facilitate not only the Gospel discussion but lead the group in the exploration of tenets of our Catholic faith.
Inquirers, please call the parish office or Rose Jenschke, OCIA Coordinator, for more information.
