With great sadness, our family announces the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother & friend.
For over 50 years, Sheila was his wife, partner & the love of his life. Together, they built a life rooted in faith, family & laughter. He was a loving father to his only son, Michael, & his daughter in law, Vanessa. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam war & later served his church as a Catholic Deacon.
His community at Saint Basil will understand when we say that his homilies were delivered in a voice that could fill a church. Always making sure that no one, not even the neighbors, missed a word. Mike shared a special bond with his siblings, Margaret Leigh, Joe, Josie & John. They were lifelong pieces of the same story & their love was a constant in his life. One of his greatest joys was owning the title of “Grandpa”. He deeply loved his 3 granddaughters, Erin, Loghan & Taylor, & treasured every moment and memory with them.
He loved baseball, football, golf, & a good glass of wine, and he always was sure to tell you whether it was actually good. Anyone who's golfed with him can tell you that a bad shot is followed by “keep your head down stupid!”. Those unmistakably-him moments are the ones that will continue to make us smile. He leaves behind more than memories: his laughter, stories, faith & love live in everyone who knew him. He'll be deeply missed, endlessly loved & carried w us wherever life goes.
May he rest in eternal peace.
A final word from his family:
Our family is deeply grateful to everyone who has shown love and support, visited Mike, sent flowers or cards or kept us in your thoughts and prayers. A special thank you to Saint Joesph's Hospice, specifically Stephanie and Christian for the incredible love & care they gave. As well as Mike’s sister & brother-in-law, Sarah and James, for helping in caring for Mike in his last months. Our family is forever thankful to every person here today. Keep him alive through the stories you share, laughter you remember & the love you give one another. Thank you all for loving him, loving us, and helping us carry his memory. With Love, Sheila, Erin & Mike
